<p>For many years, we have had the incredible opportunity to live the biggest and best adventures ever &#8211; live and work in Hawaii!  Over the many years, our family completely embraced the island lifestyle, culture and loved all that it taught &#8220;us&#8221; as a family.</p>

<p>In 2018, Jay was in the process of retiring from the Navy &amp; starting his own business. Jen was a successful Real Estate Agent after being a stay-at-home Mom for many years. We found ourselves rushing Caleb from one after-school activity to another and working extremely hard to maintain a beautiful house, three cars, and tuition to private school. It was what most would consider &#8220;the American Dream!&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-177" src="https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-683x1024.jpeg" alt="" width="333" height="500" srcset="https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-683x1024.jpeg 683w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-600x900.jpeg 600w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-333x500.jpeg 333w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-768x1152.jpeg 768w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-1024x1536.jpeg 1024w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-1365x2048.jpeg 1365w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-100x150.jpeg 100w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-233x350.jpeg 233w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts-788x1182.jpeg 788w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/scouts.jpeg 720w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px" /></p>
<p>In all this activity, the days, weeks, and months were going by so quickly.  Our only son was growing up so fast, and it would be only a matter of a few years before he wanted to become his own man &#8211; on his own journey.  We found ourselves realizing &#8220;time&#8221; was the one thing we couldn&#8217;t work to get more of.  Life events led us to understand this and eventually make it our number one priority for our family.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-179 size-medium" src="https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-500x217.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="217" srcset="https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-500x217.jpg 500w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-600x260.jpg 600w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-1024x443.jpg 1024w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-767x332.jpg 767w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-1536x665.jpg 1536w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-2048x887.jpg 2048w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-346x150.jpg 346w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-100x43.jpg 100w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-808x350.jpg 808w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary-788x341.jpg 788w, https://ohanaexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/temporary.jpg 1127w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></p>
<p>From this, an idea hatched and became our new mission. Caleb had lived most of his life on the island. While it&#8217;s a fantastic place for a kid to grow up, we knew he was missing out on so many experiences the mainland has to offer. Simple things like family road trips, time with extended family and friends who lived off-island, oh, and squirrels (another story for another time). Jay and I had always dreamed of exploring our country in an RV. When we brought up the idea to Caleb, his only question was, &#8220;Can we go see all the National Parks?&#8221; Ummmm&#8230;YES!!!! Mission Accepted!</p>
<p>After selling, donating &amp; decluttering about 85% of our belongings and selling our home in Hawaii, we were reluctantly ready to say &#8220;a hui hou&#8221; to our island ohana and adopted home.  This was the most challenging step of them all.</p>

<p>We are ready to see what the mainland has in store for us.  We hope that through sharing our experience, loads of research, and mistakes (aka life’s little learning lessons) along the way that we can help others experience an amazing expedition of your own.  Please join as we explore all the beauty our country has to offer.</p>
